The Vancouver, BC Stake is similar to a diocese in other churches, and comprises 11 congregations, or Wards, with over 4500 members throughout Vancouver, West Vancouver, North Shore, Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Sechelt and Squamish. Eight of the congregations are English-speaking, with the additional three congregations being Spanish, Chinese, Korean-speaking. Stake President McKinley Bateman is a lawyer and negotiator for First Nations pursuing Self Determination. He and his wife Wilhelmina have served in many capacities in the Church and community. They say, “We are happiest when we find ways to lift, love and serve others.”
First Counselor, Mark Ashton, has many years of professional experience in supply chain and business entrepreneurship. He currently works at Semios, a global AgTech company. Mark and his wife Kristine are grateful to live in beautiful British Columbia. Mark says, “the opportunity to serve the Lord is a great privilege and joy to me.”
Second Counselor, Chandresh Narayan works for Seaspan Marine in Vancouver. He is married with two children, and loves spending time with his family. Chandresh believes deeply in the boundless love of God, and strives to help others feel God’s love in their daily lives.
